Our Philosophy

At Jack and Gill, we believe children thrive when they feel truly connected — to nature, to each other, and to themselves.

Since 2003, our small family-run setting has offered something a little different: a carefully considered blend of Forest School principles, outdoor learning and meaningful real-life experiences.

It is a place where children explore, create, problem-solve and grow in every sense of the word.

Preparing Children for Life — Not Just School

We fully support all areas of the EYFS, while recognising that childhood is about more than ticking boxes.

We help children learn to:

  • think independently
  • solve problems
  • build resilience
  • communicate confidently
  • care for others and the world around them

These are the foundations that support children not only in school, but throughout life.

What Makes Us Different

We offer a slower, more connected and more meaningful childhood — one where children are free to explore, take appropriate risks, get messy and truly be children.

Here, nature is not simply a backdrop. It is central to how children learn and develop.

Whether building, growing, climbing, creating or discovering, each experience is purposeful — supporting confidence, curiosity, creativity and respect for the world around them.

We are also proud to be part of our local community. Through age-appropriate projects and everyday acts of kindness, children begin to understand responsibility, generosity and belonging.

A Setting That Feels Like Home

Our experienced team guides each child with warmth, patience and consistency.

We take time to truly know every child, creating a calm and nurturing environment where they feel safe, understood and confident to explore at their own pace.

We remain proudly small and personal, where relationships matter and families are known, listened to and supported.

Many of our families stay with us for years, often returning with younger siblings — something we value deeply.

Our Promise

At Jack and Gill, every day is an adventure — rooted in nature, grounded in real experiences, and guided by people who care deeply.

A childhood to remember. Foundations for life.
