What happens if my child is ill?

It's unavoidable that small children catch all kinds of minor infections. For a speedy recovery and to prevent the other children from falling ill, children who are unwell must stay at home. Only when a temperature has subsided for a whole day should you return your child to the setting. For diarrhoea and vomitting, the exclusion time is the recommended 48 hours from the last "episode". If your child's illness infectious, we'll need a doctor's note confirming that your child is no longer contagious before they can return to the setting.

Outdoor clothing

We can provide waterproof dungarees and waterproof jackets.

All children need to wear sensible footwear, ideally wellies, snow boots or trainers. No opened toed shoes to be worn.

Children should wear long trousers and socks to protect their legs from scratches or stings. Long sleeved tops are also a great idea even in the Summer.

In colder weather please bring lots of clothing as layering is the key to being warm.  2 pairs of socks (one thicker pair) as wellies are not great for warmth and this is when snow boots are preferable.

2 pairs of gloves, one for spare. Please attach the gloves to their coat by clips or elastic so they are less likely to be lost. Warm wolly hat. Wool works amazingly well to keep you warm.

Some children prefer to wear ski suits which are ideal to keep them warm, but they will still need layers of clothing underneath the ski suits. You can buy thermal leggings and long sleeved tops for children which really help to keep them warm.

In hotter weather children must wear sun hats/caps and sun cream. Once a day suncream must be applied before the children arrive at the setting.
